The session

What is The Workshop?

A structured, one-to-one session on your business, run by our founder Steve Dawson. It is not a presentation and there are no slides. You talk through what you are trying to do in Asia, we ask the questions, and together we find what is actually holding the revenue back.

One to one

The founder, not a team

The hour is with Steve Dawson. No junior consultant between you and the person with the experience.

Design thinking

A method, not a chat

Run collaboratively on a shared board, tailored to your growth stage rather than a fixed agenda.

Documented

It exists afterwards

A written analysis and recommendations: what the constraint is, and the tactics that will move it.

Qualification

Who is it for?

Established B2B companies with paying customers and a real reason to be in Asia. Most are looking at Singapore as the entry point for Southeast Asia, or are already here and not growing as fast as they expected.

If you are earlier than that, the hour will probably tell you to wait. We will say so. It costs us an engagement and saves you a year, and it is why trade agencies keep sending companies to us.

Cost

What does the Singapore EDB Workshop cost?

Nothing.

Free to the company, either route

Whether you come through Singapore EDB or come to us directly, The Workshop is free to your company. There is no paid tier, nothing is held back for one, and nothing in the report depends on working with us afterwards.

Content

What gets covered in the hour?

It depends on what you bring, which is the point. These are the ones that recur.

1Which market first, and why Singapore may or may not be the right entry point
2Whether you need a local entity before you can sell
3Who actually buys in this region, and how that differs from your home market
4Direct sales, channel partners or distributors, and what each really costs
5Why the message that works at headquarters usually does not work here
6What modern go-to-market technique makes possible now that it did not two years ago
Afterwards

What happens next?

You receive the written analysis. Then it is your decision, and there is no obligation in any direction.

Most common

Act on the report

Some companies take the analysis and run it themselves. We never hear from them again, which is a perfectly good outcome.

Sometimes

Go deeper with us

A short paid advisory engagement where the constraint needs more than an hour to solve.

Often

An introduction

Where you need something we do not do ourselves, we introduce someone from our network who does.

Who delivers it

Who delivers the Singapore EDB Workshop?

Asia Market Entry, a go-to-market advisory firm in Singapore. The session is run personally by our founder, Steve Dawson, who has been based in Singapore since 2012.

Singapore EDB supports The Workshop and directs companies to the firms that deliver it. Asia Market Entry is one of those firms.

Registering

How do I register for the Singapore EDB Workshop?

Two routes, and they reach the same session.

Start with a fifteen-minute intro call to check the fit. If The Workshop is right for you, we book it on that call.

For trade agencies and accelerators

Are you running a programme rather than a single company?

We run group expansion programmes: a workshop for each company, a masterclass for the cohort delivered by Steve, and business meetings booked before anyone arrives. Sixteen government agencies and accelerators already work with us.

What you can report upward

Performance dashboards per company, so you can show your board or your ministry what happened without chasing us for it.

Scope a programme

Book the hour

Pick a time, meet our founder, and walk away with a documented plan for your Asia expansion.
